From the Hearts of our Youth

COPPERHILL TN - Not long ago, four students at Copper Basin Elementary presented a very special request. The students wanted to be able to raise the United States and Tennessee state flags on the school grounds. Their request included receiving permission to say the "Pledge of Allegiance" and a prayer each morning before their day of learning began.

Every school morning now students gather together to start their day. It begins with prayer, led by a student. The day BRMNews was present, Carson Parris (shown in picture above) was chosen. Then students raise the flags and follow with the "Pledge of Allegiance". Everything is conducted under adult supervision, but no active adult participation.

The U.S. flag was donated by Copperhill City Council. First flown at Copper Basin Elementary to start this 2019-2020 school year. It replaced a well worn flag just in time to be back in hearts of our youth.
