BE NICE!

October 28, 2020

As I sit here contemplating, watching cars go by, I wonder where everyone is off to; passing me on the road while I drive to work each day.

Needless to say, some of us head off to our daily grind called 'employment' while others head for the beach, the mountains, or sight-seeing wherever their funds may take them. Even if it's their unemployment monies.

Sadly, today with this mess created this year, more people seem to prefer to run around town collecting their unemployment benefits instead of being productive in the work field. Don't get me wrong? If you were forced out of a job you loved, I don't blame you, but what about people who really need the money?

Somethings you need to think about while you are enjoying your new-found freedom from the work field:

1- The money you collect each week being "off" is NOT FREE! Where do you think these 'riches' come from? You may want to check with your tax accountant to see if you will be paying some or all of it back during tax season or will you be taxed on all that free money you are getting beyond the 'normal' unemployment benefits you may have received before the events of 2020 took place.

2- You visit a local establishment and want excellent service from the person behind the cash counter or drive-thru. These people you may end up 'yelling' at because you are frustrated with some of your circumstances is WORKING HARD to make an honest living to pay their bills (rent, car notes, electricity bills, etc.) They do not deserve you to be rude to them for any reason. They, too, feel the anxiety of 2020 hitting close to them as well.

The world we live in right now is NOT UTOPIA; everyone has problems they are dealing with to the best of their abilities. Be kind to the person who is working hard to give you the best experience in their establishment whether it be restaurant or retail they can under many guidelines they have to follow.

AND REMEMBER: These guidelines I mentioned were set by their home companies to comply with regulations set by government officials. Especially in restaurants! If a table in the lobby is marked with a tri-fold saying "TABLE CLOSED", don't be obstinate and rude by sitting there!

3- I, too, chose to WORK instead of getting free money. I feel productive; part of the solution to help keep America growing; not part of the problem where handouts seem to be everywhere and putting money strains on my government resources.

Therefore, during these trying times for abundant patience, please BE NICE!  A smile goes a long way as do KIND WORDS!
