$26,000.00  Charged to City of McCaysville

One item first brought to the public's attention during the December meeting was the payment of $26,000.00 for exercise equipment. An expense the board did not discuss or approve.

The City of McCaysville did not order the equipment. It was ordered without Council approval in the name of "City of McCaysville," with the City of McCaysville responsible for paying the $26,000.00 bill.

Meeting attendees, in December and January, pushed for and have not yet received an answer to why this bill was paid when the Council did not purchase or approve the purchase. Mayor Seabolt would not even tell the public where the equipment was located. BRMN easily found 5 crates in plain view in the City Park. What appears to be the $26,000.00 worth of equipment with the name and phone number of who the person may have made the purchase.

Concern was shown over how easy it was for someone to order and have the City of McCaysville pay the enormous bill without Council approval. Who and why was this equipment ordered at this time for the size of McCaysville? Seabolt will not answer the questions McCaysville citizens ask.

In the McCaysville City Park, there are 5 unattended crates allegedly containing $26,000.00 worth of exercise equipment.
